Mid-Engine Configuration Marks A New Era For The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette
October 03 2019, Action Chevrolet Buick GMC
The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette is a superstar among sportscast. Not only is it a homegrown icon, but it is extremely sleek, very speedy, and truly exciting. The new mid-car engine placement signals a new era in Corvette history. Many trims will be made available.
Chevy engineers completely changed the car’s structure when they decided to move the engine. The new layout involved moving the driver and passenger forward, placing the engine between the cabin and rear axle.
The programmable front suspension lift raises the car nose by 1.5 inches. Shoppers will like the sleek headlights that seem to point toward the mouth-like grille. A larger windshield offers a wider view of the road.
The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Is All About Performance
The mid engine placement will surprise many Corvette enthusiasts. This 6.2-litre V8 can be tuned for 495 horsepower, an upgrade of 40 horses. With its optional exhaust upgrade, it makes 470 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic manages all those ponies.
A new coil-over damper system allows for a serious cornering upgrade. Kicking in at 1.0g of lateral acceleration. In that particular situation, the LT2 V8 stays lubricated thanks to the dry sump system.
A luxurious and sporty cabin in the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette
The new steering wheel has been squared off at both the top and bottom. Behind it, there’s a 12-inch colour gauge cluster. Hand-wrapped leather-clad seats are nestled in a cabin filled with soft touchpoints, carbon fibre, real metals and other high quality materials.
You can expect the 1LT to have heated power-adjustable seats, leather upholstery, and Chevy’s premium 8-inch infotainment touch screen. A ten-speaker Bose stereo surrounds the small cabin with sound. The 2LT also has the GT1 seat which is wrapped in Mulan leather and designed for long distance and support. Additional tech includes navigation and a wireless charger.
The 2LT also adds a blind spot monitor, a front parking camera, and a rearview camera mirror. The mirror’s camera watches behind the car, helping the Corvette driver avoid changing lanes at the wrong time. The 3LT adds even more luxury as it upgrades the leather and adds suede soft points. GT2 sport seats hug the body as you take the curves.
